The Body Project 2014
The Body Project is an annual event that brings together photographers and models of all shapes and sizes to prove that beauty comes in many forms.
Organised by Kellie Waller, a well known published model, the project started in 2012 and has grown in size since. Kellie started the project to raise awareness about size discrimination and body confidence in the modelling world.
I have been lucky enough to be invited along to the last 3 projects as one of the photographers. Its not often I give my free time up for nothing, but when there is a good cause involved, you can't stop me from turning up.
Getting to work along side some other locals photographers is always a blast, but it also great way to meet new people and build connections.
As you can imagine working with a large group of woman can always prove tricky, but if anyone had egos or such, they are always left at the door and everyone just becomes instant best friends.
Each time there is always a theme to accompany the latest project. This time around we had the theme of moulin rouge/ burlesque and we had been given the use of a local night club as the backdrop.
It took a couple of hours to get through photographing all the models, and after all the equipment was packed away, there was still the task of picking up all the loose feathers form the ladies boa's they had brought with them.
I had an absolute laugh and was so cool spending time just taking photos for a great cause. I enjoyed every second I got with each one of the ladies, and I look forward to being part of this project again in the future.
