I have been working near enough 20 hour days of late, and it has started to catch up with me. I have believed that I could stay up all night and carry on a normal day with no problems what so ever. For a long time I have believed this and did exactly that. I would work all day and never stop long enough to get tired. I have since realised that it isn't a healthy or good way to live. So I've started to change my ways and put a stop to it.
I now make time for other things, whether it be going for a nice walk or reading a book. I make time to get away from the computer and the photography related stuff. And I go about resting my body and also my mind.
I have spoken to several other photographers and they all say the same thing. They don't really give themselves a break either. And they to, get to the ''burned out'' stage.
My body now screams at me when it needs sleep, which is pretty often to be fair. Do I always listen to it. Well no! My body doesn't understand that I have deadlines to meet, pictures to edit, blog posts to write, emails to answer. But I have put together a new structure and work timetable to try and adhere to. I urge everyone else to do the same. Make time for the other things in life, and go about enjoying it. If you have to, like in my case meet deadlines etc. then come up with a compromise. Work hard one night/day and get what you need done, but then give yourself the next day off. Trust me your body and mind will love you for it, as well as the other people around you.
